My Electronic blog: Evaluation of My Music Magazine

The Electronic Evaluation.

I studied other music magazines and all their features which gave me some ideas and inspiration for mine. It gave me hints as to what I needed to include in m music magazine for example outstanding colours. Fonts pictures, catch lines ect.
As with most music magazines I have a large image for my background...

and a smaller image... I edited for the f
ront cover. I have a mast head which stands o
ut and very easy to read.

Most of the other magazines have the strap lines the same colour and as he mast head. This wasn’t appealing to me as I don’t think it has the same effect as brought colours and varied font styles have. Also my contents page has elements of my front cover by having some of the same font style and most of the colours are similar. I think this uses the form and conventions of the magazine flows.

My music magazine is aimed mostly at girls as there is limited music magazines for girls. It is also aimed at girls that like particular types of music a
nd in this case party music, this partclular issue Rave music. I chose to make a magazine that employed the genre of rave music as to my knowledge there is not a magazine that adopts the genre of girls music. The majority of magazine on sale today are in the genre of rock, r&b and indie. My music magazine is aimed at teenager at the age of 16+ as the mode of address is to directly connect with my audience. For example, the sub heading   "Girls anit cute no more” uses colloquial langue. I think this is effective as the purpose of my magazine is to inform and entertain my audience in the way that they are comfortable not in a formal way. I think my music magazine “Girlz Vibez” will sell well as it is mainly aimed at girls and would be highly enjoyable what with the freebies, interviews, subscription, gigs, and competitions. It will be highly popular as it is aimed at social groups that are very interested in music and aspire to break into the industry.

I think my music magazine would sell better in newsagents and music shops such as HMV and online shops such a play.com. I think this is because most teenagers would not go to the leading supermarkets to buy their monthly magazine. Althou
gh some would I think I have a better chance at my market selling it in newsagents and music shops, as it is not your typical genre of magazine. I would also have a website for my magazine (as I placed on my front cover) and adverts on the television. This advertising and promoting my magazine will help the selling of my music magazine.
I wanted my music magazine to stand out on the shelf as it has lots of colour, font, and effects, this will make it more attractive than the other magazines.

My preliminary task was enjoyable as I was learning all the skills and gathering ideas. I did some independent learning to add to my skills for creating my final product some video tutorials online, mostly how to get around Photoshop. I followed them and noted down and gathered up my ideas into what I intended to do for my music magazine. Getting started I flat planned my production to make it clear exactly what I needed to do, the layout, photos and style. This was very helpful as it made me more organized n the process of creating my school magazine and my music magazine.

I have learnt how to use the latest technology, such as desktop publishing, video blog tutorials, Photoshop. I have learnt some Mac shortcuts to help the progression of my magazine. This allowed me to work faster and more efficiently as I don’t have the annoyance of always using the computers mouse, I just simply used the keyboard shortcuts. I have also learnt how different computer programmes work together, for example, dragging an image from the Internet automatically adjusts itself for a more efficient use. This was very helpful as it made the creation of my magazine quick and easy. The technology allowed me to think of new ways to present my work. For example on Photoshop, form my learning from video blog tutorials I put effects on my pages to make it more attractive and stand out. This allowed me to make a clearer masthead and sub headings. Also the way in which the layers of my production on Photoshop made me have a clearer understanding on what I was editing, for instance when creating my background, as I as editing my image I was erasing the background but wasn’t o n the other layers so my page stayed as I wanted it to whilst playing around with my layout and effects.

My application of my skills aloud me to move form one level to another as I gained more confidence in using the software. I also became more adventurous in the way I was experimenting with new programmes. This practice allowed me to help myself and others around me in the music magazines. As I gained more experience and practice with my school magazine this made my music magazine more successful. Also this made it clearer in the planning what I would be able to do and what I would not be able to do.
